JOSEFINA BALDERAS MADRID
(Our Paternal Grandmother)
30 August 1902 - 6 September 1986

Josefina Balderas Madrid was born to a family belonging to the Principalia of Banate, Iloilo, Philippines. Her mother Doña Maria (Biyay) Baviera Balderas was the eldest daughter of Capitan Don Martin Balderas (Gobernadorcillo of Banate), and Doña Apolonia Baviera (daughter of Don Francisco Baviera and Doña Juana Barte; grand daughter of Don Felix Baviera - the first Gobernadorcillo of Banate - and his wife D. Rita).

Maria was married to Don Marcelo Alguevar Madrid, a Spanish merchant (son of Timoteo Madrid and Francisca Alguevar of Barcelona, Spain), later, first Representative and Sanitary Officer of the Presidencia of Banate in 1901 upon the re-establishment of the local government at the end of the Filipino-American War). The couple was blessed with three children: Pilar (married to Paulo Badilla, who was President of Banate during the American Regime); Serafin Balderas Madrid Sr.; and Josefina.

Unfinished registration of the burial of Don Marcelo Madrid, found in the canonical book of the Parish of St. John the Baptist, Banate, Iloilo, Philippines, dated 1 August 1921.
