The Brillantes-Bañas Family
joins the rest of the descendants of
the Principales of the Philippines
in celebrating
The Principalía Day
On
this day, in the year 1594, Don Felipe II, King of All the Spains,
officially recognized the rights of the local nobles and chieftains (Datus) of
the different principalities (Kinadatuan) in the Philippine Archipelago, eventually creating a stabilized
Spanish rule over the archipelago with the newly created Principalía
(local chiefs/nobles) as the elite ruling class.
Today, the Family remembers and honors its distinguished ancestors who, having been Principales of Banate, served as Goberndorcillos of the Town:
Don Felix Baviera - first Gobernadocillo of Banate in 1837
Don Tomas Juanico - Gobernadorcillo of Banate
Don Martin Balderas - Gobernadorcillo of Banate
